NEW DELHI — A Muslim youth identified as Ali was allegedly stopped on the road and beaten with sticks by a group of Hindu men in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district, with a video of the assault later circulating on social media.

According to the posts, three men identified as Akhilesh, Vikas Gautam and Rohit Paswan waylaid Ali, who was riding a bicycle and assaulted him with sticks.

The incident reportedly took place in Chhatrapal Purwa, Gauriganj, under the Paras Pur police station area.

The footage shows Ali being attacked on a road while two men are present in the vicinity. According to the claims circulating with the video, the assault was allegedly recorded by the attackers themselves and subsequently shared as a means of displaying dominance.

The video has since circulated widely on social media, drawing strong criticism over the assault.

One user wrote, “This is sheer terrorism. Who gave these people the right to beat someone like this?”

Another user wrote, “The assault was so severe that it was deemed necessary to record a video. Now the question — will this video be considered evidence in the eyes of the law, or just social media content?”

Tagging the concerned police authorities, another user wrote, “The reason strict action is not being taken against these thugs is that such incidents are becoming common. Sir, ensure arrest and take strict action.”

Meanwhile, in a social media post, Gonda Police said that an FIR had been registered at Parsapur police station in connection with the case under relevant sections. The police added that other necessary proceedings were underway.
