In a shocking incident, locals of Raza Chowk in Bihar’s Darbhanga in Singhwada police station area on Independence Day held hate posters and raised slogans demanding ouster of Muslims and Sikhs.

The video of the incident shows several men holding placards that declare Muslims and Sikhs as “terrorists” and demand their deportations. “Muslims and Sikhs should leave India”, reads a poster.  The men reportedly pasted the posters in several public places.

One of the posters reads, “Azan(call to prayer) must be stopped in India. While the other one reads, “Muslims slaughter cows in Bakrid.”

Police were called by the residents and the posters were taken down by the police. Locals have alleged that ahead of Bihar elections, this was done to fuel communal hatred for political gain.

While police say that the investigation to find out the culprits is underway.Local Muslims and activists on social media expressed outrage and sheer disappointment over the incident. They pointed out that such incidents of hate openly being expressed against minorities keep increasing while the police and the political parties continue to stay silent and fail to punish them.
