NEW DELHI – Massive outrage erupted on social media following the release of a video showing Lalit Sharma, the Uttarakhand state president of the Hindu Raksha Dal, making highly inflammatory remarks threatening violence against Muslim women and their unborn children.

In the widely circulated video, Sharma is seen addressing a crowd and media while gesturing aggressively. Addressing Muslims as “Jihadi,” he stated: “Whatever offspring is in their womb, we will take them all out and kill them.”

He issued this threat in apparent reaction to a recent incident, demanding action and warning of extreme retaliation.

The remarks have been widely condemned as hate speech inciting violence and communal hatred, drawing sharp criticism for targeting women and children in a manner that violates basic human dignity and Indian law. The video, shared by users including journalist Wasim Akram Tyagi, quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage. Many labeled Sharma a “demon” or “pishach” (monster) and questioned the inaction of authorities.

Tyagi, a prominent voice on X (formerly Twitter), demanded immediate intervention. He said: “Has National Commission for Women heard this threat from this monstrous demon? Will Pushkar Dhami, the head of the Uttarakhand government, take action against this demon? Will Uttarakhand Police slap UAPA on this terrorist demon? Whose hand is ultimately behind this demon’s head, someone who is above even the law and the constitution?”

Tyagi pointed out that Sharma keeps making hate speeches every other day but strict action is not taken against him.

Prashant Kanojia, activist and former journalist, said: “Lalit Sharma boast about Yogi Model! He says that he will kill Children from the wombs of Muslim Women! India is doomed!”
