The incident has triggered a huge sensation. Immediately after the incident, police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel were deployed at the site.

The mosque, located under Irani police station, is over a hundred years old and is regularly attended by the Muslim community for Namaj. Nearly 90 percent of residents in Tilabazar and its surrounding areas belong to the Muslim community.

According to reports, the mosque’s Imam discovered a plastic packet lying on the floor inside the mosque premises. When opened by locals, pork meat along with a handwritten letter was found inside it.

Senior leaders, including Gournagar Block vice-chairman Mohammad Badruzzaman, Tripura Waqf Board Chairman and former MLA Mobaswar Ali, and Tilabazar Panchayat Pradhan Aheduzzaman, rushed to the mosque after hearing the news. Soon, a large crowd of locals also gathered, escalating tensions in the area.

Police officials, including Irani Officer-in-Charge Biraj Debbarma, Kailashahar SDPO Jayanta Karmakar, Unakoti Additional SP L. Darlong, and Deputy Magistrate Mati Lal Debbarma, reached the spot to take control of the situation. Later in the evening, Acting SP of Unakoti district, Abinash Rai, also visited the site.
