During a protest by the Sakal Hindu Samaj against alleged cases of rape and “love jihad,” VHP-Bajrang Dal displayed a tableau peddling the conspiracy theory of “love jihad.” The display featured a refrigerator and a mutilated mannequin, symbolising the dismembered body parts of a woman.
Several speakers peddled conspiracy theories and targeted the Muslim community. One speaker falsely claimed that Muslim boys receive funds from Saudi Arabia through Maulvis and Maulanas to trap Hindu girls by posing as Hindus. Another issued a warning that while they know how to die, they also know how to kill before dying. A speaker also called for an economic boycott of Muslim businesses and services.
