Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiv Shakti Akhada, targeted Muslims and Christians, comparing them to demons from Hindu mythology. He falsely claimed there was a conspiracy to eradicate Hinduism and made attendees take oaths to wield weapons. He declared that he respects only Hindus claiming God resides in them, while seeing only demons in those wearing “black clothes.”
