Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vikram Singh from Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur has filed a case against recent social media posts for spreading “fake” reports about him and his family.

According to media reports, Singh claimed that he received extortion calls; however, after not engaging with them, he was threatened, following which fake reports were spread about him and his family on social media.

The complaint is in regard to the recent trolling that Singh’s daughter, Yashaswinee Raje Singh, has been facing for supporting the Palestine cause, as her posts were shared by Hindu right-wing trolls on social media.

The young woman, who is a social media influencer, uses her platform to talk about global issues, including extending her support to Palestine as Palestinians have faced genocide for the past two years.

Vikram Singh is a former BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur. Although he is still affiliated with the party, he is no longer in power.

The controversy started when a Hindu right-wing page shared a post claiming that while the politician maintains a traditional and conservative public image, his daughter, who was sent abroad for higher studies, is allegedly dating a Pakistani man and was seen consuming beef.

Soon after, her personal details, including photos, were shared by Hindutva trolls.
