UP Police Denies Mosque Intrusion Claims After Constable-Local Clash in Lucknow During Prayers.

By Muslim Mirror Desk

A tense confrontation unfolded at Alijan Mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on April 10 during Friday prayers, when a constable from the Cantonment Police Station allegedly entered the premises wearing shoes and cut the loudspeaker wire, citing violation of Supreme Court noise pollution guidelines.

Videos circulating on social media show the constable on his patrol bike surrounded by angry Muslim devotees. They accused him of “gunda gardi” (hooliganism) and “dadagiri” (bullying), questioning how he could enter a place of worship without permission during ongoing prayers.

Witnesses claimed the officer climbed up and disconnected the wires mid-prayer, an act they viewed as highly disrespectful. Some alleged he later threatened them, saying, “Tumlog namaz padhne ke layak nahi rahoge” (You will not remain worthy of offering namaz).

The devotees demanded to know who authorized the action. When the constable reportedly called for backup, a senior officer arrived, leading to heated arguments as locals narrated the incident. One resident explained to the senior officer that the constable had entered without removing his shoes and directly targeted the loudspeaker.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have strongly denied these allegations. The Cantonment Station House Officer (SHO) told media that the constable was merely patrolling when he heard excessively loud announcements from the mosque, exceeding Supreme Court-mandated noise limits.

She dismissed claims of entering with shoes or cutting wires inside as “absolute nonsense” and stated the entire interaction occurred outside. The Lucknow Police Media Cell labeled the accusations as baseless lies.

According to police, senior officials intervened promptly, held discussions with the mosque committee, and resolved the matter amicably. The mosque’s Mutawalli reportedly assured compliance with noise control standards in the future to maintain peace. The constable’s identity has not been disclosed.

The incident highlights ongoing sensitivities around noise regulations at religious sites and enforcement during prayers. While videos fuel one narrative, official statements present a contrasting view focused on regulatory compliance. Peace has reportedly been restored in the area.
