A labourer waiting for a bus at Kannur near Adyar on his way to head-loading work in Kallapu and a fish vednor in Kuntikana were attacked by separate groups on Friday.

A family member of 38-year-old labourer Naushad said, he (Naushad) left the house near Kannur Masjid around 3.30 a.m. Like his every day routine, Naushad had to catch a vehicle to the city and then reach a private wholesale market in Kallapu for head-loading work.

As he came towards Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway, three persons asked him about availability of bus to the city. Before he could answer, one assailant attacked with a sharp weapon. As Naushad began running, the group followed and stabbed him on the back.

When he ran to neighbour’s house, the neighbour opened the door making the assailants to flee. The neighbour saw severed part of the sharp weapon on the back and arranged to admit Naushad in a private hospital in Falnir

The family member said Naushad is undergoing treatment in the hospital intensive care unit..

A delegation of Democratic Youth Federation of India activists led by District president B.K. Imtiyaz met Naushad’s family members in the hospital.
