NEW DELHI – A mob affiliated with Hindutva groups vandalized a truck and allegedly assaulted its driver in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, for transporting animal remains from Rajasthan. The incident took place when members of the Bajrang Dal intercepted the container traveling from Bharatpur (Rajasthan) to Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), claiming it was carrying beef.
Videos circulating on social media show the mob chanting “Jai Shri Ram” while damaging the truck. The driver, identified as Mohammed Rashid, was reportedly beaten during the attack.
Despite the mob’s claims, police investigations revealed that the truck was legally transporting animal remains—bones auctioned by the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation. The Assistant Commissioner of Police clarified that the material was being transported with proper documentation and permits.
“Information regarding a vehicle filled with cow meat in the Etmaddaula police station area is being circulated on certain social media platforms. Upon investigation by the police at the scene, it was found that the vehicle was transporting bones of dead animals, legally documented after an auction by the Bharatpur (Rajasthan) Municipal Corporation, to Saharanpur,” the ACP said on Tuesday.
