Vishwa Hindu Parishad activist Bhujang Kulal, who was arrested for alleged delivery of inflammatory speech, was released on bail late on Tuesday.

The Bajpe police, suo motu, registered a case against Mr. Kulal, orator Shrikanth Shetty and a few other VHP leaders for allegedly speaking in an inflammatory way at the public meeting of VHP on May 25 in Bajpe, demanding an NIA probe into the murder of former Bajrang Dal activist Suhas Shetty on May 1.

Supporters of 32-year-old Abdul Rehman, who was murdered in Koltamajalu in Bantwal taluk, blocked the vehicle of Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal on May 27 evening outside the mortuary of a private hospital in Deralakatte. They demanded the arrest of persons who had delivered inflammatory speeches in Bajpe.

A few minutes later, the Bajpe police arrested Bhujang Kulal and produced him before the jurisdictional magistrate in the latter’s home office. Search was on for Shrikanth Shetty, the police said.
