Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) honoured Mahendra Hembram, who was convicted for the killing of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two young sons by burning them alive. He was released from life imprisonment on grounds of ‘good behaviour’, following a recommendation by the Odisha government. Hindu nationalist welcomed him with garlands and chanted slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
