The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has initiated the identification and subsequent sealing or demolition of over 350 “unauthorized religious sites.” The action targeted various structures, including madrasas, mosques, mazars, and Eidgahs.

The CM said that his government will not tolerate “any encroachment in the name of religion.” He also mentioned that those found violating the law will face serious legal repercussions.

This campaign has been carried out in several districts across the state. Districts such as Pilibhit, Shravasti, Balrampur, Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, and Maharajganj have seen significant action by the authorities.

The extent of the issue can be seen by the administration’s identification and sealing of more than 100 unlawfully constructed religious buildings in the Shravasti region alone. Similar measures have also been used in other districts of the state, resulting in the demolition or sealing of a large number of illegal projects.
