Cow vigilante Puneet Kerehalli invoked Shivaji to claim that there was no tradition of committing violence in the name of religion before the arrival of Muslims. He alleged that Muslims committed atrocities against Hindu women, and stated that Shivaji was the first to take up the sword for ‘Hindvi Swaraj’ and asserted that they are now standing up to protect that same.
