BJP held a rally thanking Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for eviction drives targeting Bengali-speaking Muslims, whom they alleged were illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi called them “suspected citizens” and claimed they were conspiring to destabilise Assam’s geographical and political situation and marrying ‘more than ten women’ as a part of it.
