At a Ganesh Chaturthi rally organised by Hindu Raksha Dal, Swami Darshan Bharti targeted Muslims, declaring that Islam must be “crushed” in Uttarakhand and that chants of “Allahu Akbar” would not be tolerated in a land of Hindu gods. Hindu Raksha Dal’s National President, Bhupendra ‘Pinki’ Chaudhury, fearmongered about the Muslim population, derogatorily referring to them as “topi-dariwale,” “burkhewale,” “kuthmulle,” and “jihadi.”
