Members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a protest against an Axis Bank advertisement released for Hindu festivals, accusing the bank of “hurting Hindu religious sentiments” by featuring Christian symbols. During the protest, a speaker issued a threat saying “Hindu neeti se chaloge to rahoge, warna yaha se niklo” (You can stay only if you follow Hindu principles, otherwise leave), threatening violence against the Bank Manager. Protesters locked the bank’s gates, burned an effigy of Axis Bank, and warned that all Hindus would withdraw their accounts.
