VHP-Bajrang Dal leader Tannu Sharma while addressing a group of young children at a Garba event, promoted the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and vilified the Muslim community. He portrayed Muslims as “jihadis” and “modern-day demons” whose appearances may have changed– trimmed moustaches, long beards, and caps; but whose “malicious intent” remains the same. Sharma warned the children that such individuals form deceptive personal relationships with Hindu women by calling them “Didi” (sister) or “Mummy,” framing these interactions as calculated attempts to trap Hindu women under the guise of affection and trust.
