Authorities carried out a demolition drive against properties linked to close aides of cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza, president of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC), alleging that the structures were illegal encroachments. The demolition targeted a banquet hall owned by Raza’s associate Dr Nafees Ahmed, who was arrested along with his son Farhan on October 1 for allegedly mobilising crowds during the September 26 clashes related to the “I Love Muhammad” campaign. Officials claimed the demolition was part of an ongoing crackdown on those involved in the unrest.
