At a Valmiki Jayanti event organised by the VHP-Bajrang Dal, a speaker falsely claimed that the caste system was a product of Islamic rule in India. He further alleged that Muslim rulers gave some Hindus the choice to either clean filth or convert, and that these Hindus chose to clean filth rather than abandon their religion.
