BJP MLA Durgeshwar Lal, speaking at a Rudrasena protest against alleged cattle slaughter in the area, targeted Muslims, claiming that they “keep seven wives in one house as a gift from Allah” and fearmongering that they would soon occupy local land and gardens. He also peddled the conspiracy theories of “land jihad,” “love jihad,” and “thook jihad.” Rakesh ‘Uttarakhandi’ Tomar, founder of Rudrasena, referred to the Muslim nomadic Gujjars in the region as “snakes,” accusing them of killing cows and eloping with Hindu women.
