VHP-Bajrang Dal leader Vikas Verma, speaking at a weekly Hanuman Chalisa event, claimed Islam promotes violence, citing a mob lynching in Bangladesh, and alleged that Hindu businesses are being taken over and Hindu women assaulted. He described Muslims as “Islamic fundamentalists,” claimed the Quran permits killing or forced conversion, and asserted that “differences between puja and azaan cannot be erased, claiming references to beheading “kafirs” exist in Islamic texts. He fearmongered over Muslim population, warning that followers of Sharia would accuse others of blasphemy and resort to violence. He urged Hindus to unite to prevent a “Bangladesh-like” situation in India and called for participation in an “aakrosh rally,” urging the burning of effigies representing “jihadi, fundamentalist, Islamic terrorism.” He claimed all terrorists “wear caps and read the Quran.” He fearmongered the demographic shift, alleging Muslim and Christians are encroaching land in Uttarakhand, alleging the increase in construction of Churches in the locality. He claimed they are relocating from Uttar Pradesh after the SIR process, and warned of alleged Christian religious conversions happening in Punjab through inducement. He alleged that neither the government nor the army would protect Hindus in the event of violent attacks by 500 jihadis if they come with swords and weapons. He also alleged that halal-certified products fund terrorism, citing the Delhi blast.
