Authorities carried out a demolition drive of two mosques and a madrasa, alleging that they were illegal encroachments built on government land. The demolition was carried out under heavy police and drone surveillance deployment, with the DM present on-site to maintain order, who later distributed the land to 20 selected beneficiaries. The DM added that a total fine of ₹58 lakh had been imposed in connection with the illegal encroachment. Out of this, a penalty of ₹8.78 lakh was imposed on the mosque’s maulana (mutawalli).
