In Tehri Garhwal, CM Dhami Repeats ‘Land Jihad’ Crackdown and Madrasa Closure Claims

Location: Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand

At the Closing ceremony of Sports and Cultural Festival organised by Thauldhar Cultural Development Committee, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted his government’s measures to maintain the “culture and demographic composition” of the state. He mentioned the implementation of laws against religious conversion, riots, “love jihad,” “land jihad,” and “thook jihad,” and claimed that strict action was being taken against “Mullawadi tendencies.” He mentioned the implementation of land laws, alleging strict action against “land mafias.” Dhami referenced an initiative called “Operation Kalnemi,” describing it as a campaign against “jihadi” who he alleged were targeting and harming “Sanatan Sanskriti,” claiming each such individual will be removed from the region. He asserted that action against “land jihad” had resulted in “freeing” over 10,000 acres of government land from “land jihadi,” demolition of more than 600 “illegal” structures, and closure of around 250 alleged “illegal” madrasas. He introduced a bill to dissolve the madrasa board, claiming that only those madrasas in Uttarakhand that teach the syllabus prescribed by the education board will be allowed to operate. He alleged that while his government acts against it and implements the Uniform Civil Code, religious conversions and riots, the Opposition Congress objects to these measures because of vote bank politics, accusing them of supporting “jihad” and uniting “urban naxal gangs” that disrespect Sanatan Dharm.
