Members of Karni Sena and Sevarthi Shakti Sangathan staged a protest against the elopement of an interfaith couple, which they described as “love jihad.” Karni Sena district president Balwant Pal Singh claimed that Muslim religious texts refer to Hindus as kafirs and advocate their killing. He urged Hindus to inform the organisation if they saw any Hindu girl with a Muslim boy. He further claimed that when ten Muslims settle in a locality of hundred Hindus, they begin fighting and Hindus are forced to flee. He asserted that this is a “Hindu Rashtra” belonging to Hindus and that others must accept it, while attendees raised the slogan, “To live in Hindustan, one must chant ‘Jai Shri Ram.’”
