In Nalbari, Professor Calls for Boycott of ‘Bangladeshi Miyas’

Location: Barkhetri, Nalbari, Assam

At a Hindu Sammelan, Jnanendra Barman, an assistant professor at Cotton University, called on the attendees to take an oath to boycott those he termed “Bangladeshi Miyas,” urging not to employ them or buy from them. He fearmongered over the Muslim population, claiming they were targeting farmland and women. He alleged that “Miyas” sold vegetables with chemicals as part of a conspiracy to make women infertile. He narrated an incident of an interfaith couple eloping and glorified bringing the woman back. He claimed that women were not safe in the presence of “Bangladeshi Miyas,” alleged they had occupied 63 lakh bigha of land, and falsely claimed they had murdered priests of Vaishnav monasteries.
