In Assam, Amit Shah Says ‘Ghuspaithiya’ Are Usurping Assamese Rights

Location: Cachar, Assam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at the launch of the Vibrant Villages Programme-II, targeted those he described as “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators), alleging they were usurping the rights of the Assamese population. He claimed that such “infiltrators” had taken away the livelihoods of Assam’s youth, the food meant for the poor, and village land, and were attempting to create a demographic shift. He claimed the BJP government was working to stop infiltration and also glorified the recent demolition drives against Bengali-origin Muslims, describing them as the freeing of land encroached upon by “ghuspaithiyas.” He urged voters to return BJP to power, stating that the government would identify and deport every “infiltrator” whom he alleged had entered during previous Congress rule.
