During a Virat Hindu Sammelan marking the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), far-right monk Mahant Raju Das fearmongered about the Muslim population, citing Kashmir as an example where he claimed families consist of “three wives and 73 children.” He peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and claimed it was a major issue in “Muslim-majority” areas. He referred to Muslims as “Babur’s descendants” and alleged that the Quran treats women as “baby-making machines,” invoking “halala” to claim that the religion mistreats women. He also alleged that Christian missionaries were carrying out religious conversions in the region. He warned that unless Hindus unite, their daughters would be trapped and their sons forced to adopt Islamic attire.
