Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at an election campaign rally, targeted those he termed “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators), claiming that they are snatching the employment of Bengal’s people, endangering women, and encroaching on land. He alleged that the “demography” has been deliberately changed to make Bengali Hindus a minority. He claimed that the TMC government does not consider Hindus its votebank because “it doesn’t grow their criminal gangs,” and alleged that the party opposes SIR to protect “ghuspaithiya” in the voter list. He further claimed that threats are being issued to Hindus that “a specific community” will unite and eradicate them.
