At the ‘Anand Jan Jagran Yatra and Flag Pooja’ event, far-right monk Mahant Raju Das peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “Love jihad” and religious conversion. He urged attendees to become “kattar” (radical) towards dharma, alleging that people who become secular reduced while those who prioritized their religion expanded. He alleged that only Sanatan is a true religion, others are just sects and some terrorist organisations. He alleged today Muslims have expanded to 58 countries, falsely claiming that two hundred years ago, there were just five. He alleged that Hindu festivals and religious events are safe as long as they are in the majority, invoking Bangladesh. He referenced Hindu mythical figures, claiming weapons are there to massacre “demons” (nishachar) so they don’t trouble society.
