During a Ram Navami event, religious preacher Hiranmoy Goswami claimed that Hindus are selling out for money and surrendering their state to those he termed “jihadis.” He claimed that India is on its way to becoming Pakistan, urged Hindus to fight for their religion, raised slogans in support of a “Hindu Rashtra,” and made attendees promise not to sell their religion and to never let their state become “Pakistan.” He further claimed that they do not want Hinduism but need “Hindutva.” He narrated an incident in which Muslims allegedly opposed a Hindu shopkeeper displaying images of deities, and claimed that they would soon realise their aim of eradicating Hindus from Bengal. He asserted that if this were to happen, no Hindu shop or woman would be spared by those he described as “jihadis.”
