During an election campaign rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted those he referred to as “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators), accusing them of alleged encroachment on the lands of long-time residents and of altering the demographic balance. He claimed that in several areas, people are unable to practice their faith or visit temples due to these changes. He also accused the TMC of enabling “ghuspaith” and endangering Bengal’s identity, alleging that Hindus are being threatened in the name of one community. He also referenced the idea of a “laal istehaar,” drawing a comparison to threats of mass violence against Hindus.
