During an election campaign rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) are encroaching on land while citizens live in fear, accusing the TMC of assisting them in obtaining fake documents and enabling their settlement from neighbouring countries. He described the alleged creation of fake IDs through threats as a threat to national security. He asserted that once a BJP government is formed, all “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) would be removed and action would be taken against those assisting them, stating that their leaders would be sent to prison. He further alleged that “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) are taking state benefits and livelihoods by working for lower wages, forcing citizens to migrate. Further citing the arrest of judges involved in SIR-related work by a mob in Malda, claiming that people must be freed from this climate of fear.
