In Shimla, Protesters Target Lenskart Over Alleged ‘Corporate Jihad’

Location: Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Hindu nationalist supporters staged a protest outside a Lenskart store over the company’s dress policy allegedly prohibiting tilak and kalawa for staff. They raised slogans including “apply Dabur oil, erase Babur’s name,” “Islamic jihad will not be tolerated,” “destroy jihadi mentality,” and “whoever clashes with Hindus will be crushed.” They also entered the store and recited the Hanuman Chalisa. A speaker peddled anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and “corporate jihad,” claiming that the Sanatan community would not tolerate an “Islamic mentality,” and alleging that Islamic organisations were funding the company. He further claimed that the recent case over allegations of sexual harassment and religious conversion at TCS had exposed similar patterns in the corporate sector, calling it a “well-planned conspiracy.” He alleged that such “new methods” are being used to drive demographic change in smaller cities like Shimla, including through “love jihad,” to expand what he described as “Islamic jihad.”
