Members of VHP–Bajrang Dal staged a protest against “love jihad,” religious conversion, and cow slaughter, and submitted a memorandum at the SDM office alleging the existence of an organised network behind such activities. Bajrang Dal leader, Avdhesh Tiwari threatened violence against those he referred to as “jihadis,” warned that “vidharmi” communities are conspiring, and asserted that they would not allow the region to “become like West Bengal.” He demanded strict state action, claiming that otherwise “Hindu society” would take the law into its own hands. He peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” accusing Muslims and Christians of systematically targeting and converting Hindu women, and claimed they are having multiple children to turn India into an “Islamic State.” He alleged that over five lakh Hindu women have been “trapped,” referring to perpetrators as “darinde (beasts).” He invoked Bangladesh to claim that Hindus would have nowhere else to go, and cited an alleged murder case, warning that if Hindus retaliate similarly, others would have no place to flee.
