Hindu nationalist speaker Gautam Khattar, speaking at a Parashuram Jayanti event, delivered a hate speech targeting Muslims and Christians. He peddled anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” alleging that Hindu women are being “trapped” by Muslim men, and blaming Hindu women and their families for such incidents. He questioned the presence of madrassas, stating that “if there can be lakhs of madrassas, why not gurukuls,” and warned that modern lifestyles would lead Hindu children away from their religion, claiming that “if there is no Mahabharata at home, then one day there will be a Mahabharat.” He further alleged that “vidharmis” fear Hindus reading texts like the Bhagavad Gita because it would prevent “love jihad,” religious conversions, and land encroachment. Citing Dayanand Saraswati’s Satyarth Prakash, he claimed it exposes “Islamic jihad,” asserting that if women read it, they would not fall victim to religious conversions or “love jihad.” He urged people to pressure elected representatives to address “demographic change” and enact strict laws against “love jihad” and religious conversion. He further called for mobilisation against cow slaughter, conversion, “love jihad,” and “land jihad,” and criticised Francis Xavier and institutions associated with him. He urged people not to make icons of those who have “looted, disrespected, and killed sanatanis,” and called for wider public awareness to “end the illusion of secularism.” He also claimed that social media platforms like Instagram have become “kotha-gram,” promoting relationships between Hindu women and Muslim men.
