Three Muslim labourers were allegedly abducted, held captive overnight, and brutally assaulted after demanding payment for repair work at a mine in Rajasthan’s Beawar district.
They are currently admitted to Rajkiya Amrit Kaur Hospital in Beawar in a serious condition.
Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the FIR, the incident took place on the night of June 28, when Sajid Khan (40), his brother Junaid, and nephew Sahil went to a mine in Jhutha village to repair an excavator after receiving a call from the mine owner, Maan Singh, asking them to repair a machine.
The three men worked until around 1 a.m. and, after completing the repairs, asked for their wages.
Sajid, in his complaint, alleged, “We were told that the payment would be settled the following morning.”
However, as they were leaving the site, Sajid alleged that Mukesh Mali returned in a Fortuner SUV accompanied by four to five other men.
“They threatened us, abused us, beat us, and forced us into their vehicle,” Sajid stated in the FIR.
The complaint alleges that the three labourers were taken to another location, tied up with ropes, and held captive throughout the night.
Sajid further alleged that the attackers made communal remarks while assaulting them.
“They said, ‘We are Hindus, we will kill you Muslims’, and forced us to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’,” the complaint states.
