Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, speaking at the Rustamji Memorial Lecture hosted by the Border Security Force (BSF), warned against “ghuspaith” (infiltration), alleging that attempts were being made from across the border to artificially alter India’s demography. He stated that the government would not only stop “ghuspaith” (infiltration) but also identify and expel each and every “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrator) from the country, asserting that such demographic change would not be allowed. He called on the BSF to stop “ghuspaith” (infiltration), cattle smuggling, and block related cross-border routes, urging closer coordination not only at the border but also with district collectors, SPs, and police station officers to identify routes and gather information related to “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrator.) He stated that meetings would be held with the Chief Ministers of Tripura, Assam, and West Bengal to establish a stronger security grid against “ghuspaith,” adding that these states now have governments that support preventing infiltration. He also highlighted the Prime Minister’s “High Power Demography Mission,” stating that it would support security agencies to strengthen border control.
