At an event, advocate and BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay fearmongered about alleged “infiltrators” and falsely claimed that India has five crore infiltrators, including Rohingyas, Afghans, Pakistanis, and Kukis. He alleged that these groups were exploiting government welfare schemes, draining national resources, committing crimes, and contributing to demographic change. Upadhyay called for alleged infiltrators to receive life imprisonment; advocated adopting an Israel-style model to deal with them; warned of a “demographic imbalance”; demanded the revocation of citizenship and seizure of property of Christian missionaries and “jihadis”; and spread the conspiracy of “population jihad”.
