During a public event, Hindu nationalist singer Kanhiya Mittal claimed that ancestors become displeased only when Hindus convert to Christianity, adding that they remain pleased as long as Hindus continue to follow their religion. He also urged Hindus to hoist saffron flags outside their homes, claiming that doing so symbolises protection from evil and victory, and asserted that a flag on a house signals to any “Abdul” passing by that it belongs to those who “drove it into Babur’s chest” and built the Ram Mandir.
