At a Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj, BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar made several anti-Muslim and anti-Christian remarks, claiming that Muslims and Christians did not follow the Indian Constitution and alleging that Muslims sought to turn India into an Islamic country. He promoted conspiracies including “love jihad”, “land jihad”, “vote jihad”, “corporate jihad” and “juice jihad”, demanded police monitoring of mosques through CCTV cameras, called for imprisonment of those refusing to sing Vande Mataram, and urged the audience to facilitate religious conversions in areas where Muslims and Christians were in the majority.
