During a Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj, BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar described Muslims as “invaders”, claimed that Muslims had historically broken temples and deities, and fearmongered about Rohingyas and Bangladeshis as “infiltrators”, claiming they were now entering Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. He also alleged that some cities had too many churches that served as hubs for religious conversions. NCP (Ajit Pawar) politician Dhavalsinh Mohite-Patil used anti-Muslim slurs and a slogan advocating violence against Muslims, while NCP (Ajit Pawar) MLA Sangram Jagtap promoted the “love jihad” conspiracy and described Muslims as “Aurangzeb’s people”. A separate far-right speaker also promoted “love jihad” and called for Hindus to restrict employment and access to their homes to other Hindus.
