At a ‘Matki Phod’ event organised by the Hind Vahini Cultural Festival Committee, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma urged Muslims interested in attending Garba events to “permanently” join Hindu society, calling on them to say “Jai Shri Ram” and wear tilak. He asked, “Why do you want to come alone? Bring your sisters and daughters from home; our boys are ready too.” He said Garba was not merely a festival but a celebration of Sanatan Dharma and warned that those attending with “bad and sinful intentions” would face the wrath of the goddess, like demons. Sharma warned Hindu girls to stay away from “qasayi” (butchers), alleging that Muslim men adopt Hindu names and create fake social media profiles to form relationships with Hindu women before killing them and cutting their bodies into “30–40 pieces.” He urged Hindu families to ensure that their daughters marry into Hindu households and highlighted the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), claiming it had banned the “factory of 5 wives, 25 children” and declaring that both “Ram” and “Rehman” would now be subject to the same marriage limit. Referring to Mathura, he called on attendees to prepare to carry out “the same work” there that had been done in Ayodhya. He also called on Hindus to work for “Hindustan” and take the tricolour to Lahore and Karachi.
