Police have arrested Naval Kishore Sharma, a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Gau Raksha Dal, in the Rakbar Khan mob lynching case in Rajasthan on Thursday.

This is the fifth arrest made by Ramgarh police in connection with the case. Rakbar Khan, 29, was lynched to death allegedly by cow vigilantes on the night of July 20, 2018, in Alwar’s Lalawandi village.

A charge sheet has already been filed against the four accused — Paramjeet, Naresh, Dharmendra Yadav, and Vijay Sculptor on September 17, 2019.

ASP (Rural) Shriman Meena was entrusted with the investigation of Naval Kishore Sharma’s case. Alwar Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam confirmed the arrest of Naval Kishore Sharma. Naval Kishore has been arrested under Sections 302, 304, 323, 341 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the charge sheet, Vijay said he had plotted the incident with Paramjeet, Naresh, and Dharmendra Yadav while sitting in the village’s Shiv temple. After that, Rakbar and his companion Aslam went into the forest to steal a cow from the side of the road.

On the way, he was apprehended and beaten up on the field. Rakbar sustained severe injuries and died on the way to the hospital in Ramgarh. Rakbar’s accomplice, Aslam, fled the scene.
