During a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Indian National Congress of handing over sacred lands and beliefs to “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators), alleging it enabled and settled them through alleged illegal encroachment. He claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party is freeing such land and returning it to “original inhabitants.” He urged vigilance against “ghuspaithiya,” questioned whether they should be allowed to remain, and accused Congress of opposing action against alleged illegal encroachment. He further alleged that Congress seeks to introduce “anti-Assam laws” that would punish those who use the term “ghuspaithiya,” claiming this would protect infiltrators, endanger the majority, and create a constant fear of imprisonment for those who speak against them. He asserted that a single vote would protect and safeguard Assam’s identity.
