During a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Indian National Congress of openly supporting “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators), alleging it enabled alleged illegal encroachment in parts of Assam and describing them as enemies who “steal” the rights, livelihoods, and land of citizens. He claimed the encroached land belongs to the original inhabitants and questioned whether it should be returned to them or not. He asserted that his government has taken strict action and removed such alleged illegal encroachments. Further stating that the issue of “ghuspaithiya” is linked to livelihood, identity, and security, alleging a demographic imbalance in parts of Assam. He asserted that a single vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party would keep “ghuspaithiya” away, protect Assam’s identity, and prevent them from “stealing” jobs.
