In Bhopal, Hindu Nationalist Leader Calls for Excluding Muslims from Religious Rituals

Location: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

During a social welfare programme, Hindu Utsav Samiti President and Sanskriti Bachao Manch leader Chandrashekhar Tiwari urged attendees to tie a “raksha sutra” only to Sanatanis and not “jihadis,” claiming that Muslims have a “jihadi mindset” and consider Hindus “kafirs.” He criticised Hindus for treating “jihadis” as brothers and cited a Delhi incident in which a Muslim man allegedly pushed a Hindu woman from the sixth floor after she rejected his advances. Tiwari questioned Muslims’ criticism of celebrating Janmashtami in schools and asked what Prophet Muhammad had done that should be taught to children. He mocked Islamic traditions, asking whether children should instead be taught to raise goats for two months before slaughtering them on Bakrid. He also claimed that Mughals destroyed the Kashi Vishwanath temple and that Babur destroyed the Ram Mandir to build the Babri Masjid. He asserted that only Sanatan Dharma is a “dharma” (religion), while Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism are merely “panths” (sects), and urged Hindus to follow Sanatan Dharma.
