In Champawat, CM Dhami Targets Demographic Change and Promotes “Love Jihad”

Location: Devidhura, Champawat, Uttarakhand

During a ‘Bagwal Mela’ program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted his government’s measures to preserve Uttarakhand’s “demographic and cultural composition” and promoted the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad,” “land jihad,” and “thook jihad.” He cited the implementation of stringent anti-conversion laws, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), action against alleged “illegal” encroachments, and “Operation Kalnemi,” claiming action was being taken against “pakhandi” (hypocrites) who defame Sanatan Dharma. He alleged that some people object whenever his government acts to protect the state’s demographic composition and “original identity” because they seek to appease a particular community, and warned of strict action against anyone who attempts to “tamper with” the state’s demography.
