Retired Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Yadav delivers anti Muslim hate speech during a two-day workshop organised by the Legal Cell of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). He claimed that the country belongs to Hindus and asserted that one may believe in the Quran or the Bible, but must chant “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” in order to live in the country. He claimed that those who cannot chant these slogans have no place in the country and should leave. Addressing Muslims, he claimed that their ancestors committed atrocities against Hindus and destroyed temples to build mosques in order to demean Hindus and demonstrate the extent of the atrocities they could commit. He asserted that Hindus have “tolerated” Muslims despite these atrocities and claimed that they have forgiven them despite them not being worthy of such forgiveness. He accused the Muslim community of failing to respect Hindu faith and sentiments and claimed that Hindus had “sheltered” Muslims after Partition, but that Muslims now seek to take advantage of Hindus. He asserted that Hindus must remain alert to Muslims and “instill fear in their heart.” He also invoked the concepts of “Nikah Halala” and “Triple Talaq” to claim that Hinduism respects women, asserting that Hindus have removed their harmful practices through law. He further claimed that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would eliminate such practices.
