In Chanderi, Ashwini Upadhyay Fearmongers About Muslim Population Growth

Location: Chanderi, Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh

BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay, speaking at a public event, fearmongered about demographic change, claiming Rohingya and Bangladeshi “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) were being settled in India in a planned manner and obtaining identity documents through bribery and corruption. He claimed over five crore “ghuspaithiya” were living in the country and linked demographic shifts to migration, terrorism, and the fragmentation of India. He peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and alleged that religious conversion, illegal immigration (ghuspaith), and population growth were driving demographic imbalance. He further claimed that people in Punjab were being made drug addicts before being targeted for religious conversion and urged eliminating cash to disrupt funding for “jihad” and religious fanaticism. He called for renaming places associated with what he described as “lootere” and “vehshi darinde” (brutal predators), demanding establishment of a “Bhartiye Dharohar Sanhita,” and called for investigation of historical sites such as the Taj Mahal.
